ButtonBar V3.18

  Introduction

ButtonBar is a remake of the toolbar shipped back in 1994 with the old 16-bit MS-Office, with some major improvements. The shortcut-bar of MS-Office 95/97/2000 was a bit fat and had no menu, and MS Office 2003 has no shortcut-bar at all. All a long time ago...
BBar is meanwhile gone out of fashion but is still the fist program I install on a new Windows.
Under Vista/Win7 there are problems with the INI file because of the Vista virtual store.
Just install old programs as BBar under a different path than 'C:\Program Files', e.g. 'C:\Tools' because there is no virtualization at all.

Download latest V3.x as ZIP: (~200KB):
http://www.uwe-sieber.de/files/bbar.zip

Download as Setup-Program (~450KB):

VB6 Runtimes are required (comes with IE5, Win98SE, ME, NT4 SP5, Win2000 and XP).

NT4 users need Microsoft's PSAPI.DLL (Unzip it to SYSTEM32 or BBar's folder). You can find the PSAPI.DLL too on your NT4 CD or (better) a Service Pack CD. It's in \SUPPORT\DEBUG\I386

Museum: The old VB4 based BBar V1.0 without drag'n drop is still available: http://www.uwe-sieber.de/files/bbar1.zip

  Features

ButtonBar can reduce itself to a 1 pixel line if you want. It has the same effect as the Windows taskbar. Since Windows 2000 you can choose a fade effect alternatively.

If you want, ButtonBar searches for a running instance of the program you want to start and activates it to avoid multiple instances of a program. You can skip this function by right-clicking a button.

Within the main menu there is a function to put short strings to the clipboard, e.g. your eMail address or whatever you want.

For all items you can define system-wide hotkeys.
