Introduction
------------

The IQ program is a utility for importing stock quotes retrieved from
an on-line service into Quicken for Windows, Spreadsheets, or any Windows
application that can serve as a Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) client . The
service used to retrieve quotes must be capable of storing quotes to an
ASCII file. Each quote must be on a separate line and consist of at least
a symbol and price. CompuServe, AOL, and Fidelity On-line Exchange (FOX)
are just a few of the many services that are capable of storing retrieved
quotes to an ASCII file.

After saving the quotes to a file, you can open the file in IQ and
configure it to find each quote`s symbol and details regardless of where
they are on the line. IQ will automatically convert the quotes to the comma
delimited format so that they can be saved to a file, imported directly into
Quicken, or dynamically imported into spreadsheets.

IQ Advantage

1. Saves Money. Intuit provides a service for getting quotes and importing
them into Quicken. However, you must pay a fee each time you retrieve
quotes from this service. By using IQ with WINCIM basic stock quote
service or AOL, you can get unlimited stock retrievals that can be
imported into Quicken at no additional cost.

2. Saves Time. IQ automatic conversion and import will get your stock
quotes into Quicken fast with minimal keystrokes.

3. Conversions from different formats. Unlike most conversion utilities that
can only convert from a single format to the comma delimited quote format,
IQ can convert quotes from many different formats. This is a plus if you
use multiple on-line services for retrieving quotes, and each service saves
quotes differently. With IQ, you can create and save a parser set for
    each service.

4. Configurable. Parser sets are completely configurable. This comes in handy
if your service decides to change the format of its quotes. No need to go
out and purchase a new conversion program, simply reconfigure the parser set
and you are ready to convert and import quotes again.

Installation
------------

1) Create a \iq2 directory and place all the unziped files in this directory.
Move bwcc.dll to the \windows\system directory if one is not already present.
If one is present, only move bwcc.dll if the one shipped with IQ is newer.

2) Using program manager, create a new item in your desired program group and
enter the file name along with path for IQ (c:iq2\iq.exe) in the command line
entry.

3) If you plan to use IQ DDE capabilities to import into spreadsheets, add
the IQ directory, i.e. c:\iq2\iq.exe, to the path in your autoexec.bat file.
Then reboot your system.

4) If you are using Quicken for Windows V1, V2, or V3: Edit the iq.ini file
and replace the [IQHook] section with the [IQHook] section contained in
iqhv3.dat. !!!! This is not required if you are using Quicken Windows V4
or V5 !!!!

Notes

Quicken V5 users
----------------

To all Quicken5 users who setup IQ to
start Quicken during an import, here
are some tips to make IQ work flawless
with this version.

1. Turn off the Quicken tips. The Quicken
tips window is displayed whenever Quicken
starts, and it will prevent IQ from
importing quotes. You can turn it off
by unchecking the 'Show Quicken Tips at
Startup' box when the tip is displayed
See pg. 21 in the Getting Started
   manual.

2. Turn Quick tabs off. With all the added
   features, Quicken is considerably slower.
Using the Quick tabs screen format, Quicken
takes a considerbly longer time to update
its window during startup and cannot keep
up with IQ commands. You can turn off
Quick tabs by selecting Options from the
Edit menu and then pressing the General
button. Under the section Quick Tabs, set
to 'Full-Window Mode'. See pg. 243 in
   User's Guide.

Notes for version 1.x users
---------------------------
1) You must send in a registration upgrade to obtain a valid license number
for V2.x.

2) IQ V2.x has much more required information in the iq.ini file.
!!! Do not try to use IQ V2.x with your old iq.ini file !!! Make sure you
install the new iq.ini file before running this version.
