Subject: Problems Encountered When Viewing at High Resolutions

Situation:
==========
You have switched to a higher video resolution (256, 32,000 or 16 million
colors) in Windows, and are experiencing difficulties with the WinFax PRO
Fax Viewer. Typical symptoms include:

- General Protection Faults
- Divide by Zero messages
- graphic images do not appear correctly or at all.

Solution:
=========
The WinFax Fax Viewer uses Windows Bitmap Scaling Services to paint images
on your screen. This information is provided to WinFax through the video
driver used by Windows. Video drivers providing a large color palette use
modified versions of the generic Windows Bitmap Scaling Services code.
The problems outlined above arise from discrepancies in this modified code.

Check with the manufacturer of your video card to see if they have an
updated video driver. If you have the latest version of your video driver,
try switching to another video driver that uses less color, or use a video
driver provided with Microsoft Windows.

Changing Video Drivers in Windows
---------------------------------
1. Make a backup copy of your SYSTEM.INI file. If Windows does not start
properly after changing video drivers, overwrite your revised
SYSTEM.INI with the backup so that you can start again.

2. From Program Manager, select Run from the File menu.

    - If you have Windows 3.1, type SETUP and click OK.

    - If you have Windows for WorkGroups 3.11, type WINSETUP and click
         OK.

    The Windows Setup dialog appears.

3. From the Options menu, choose Change System Settings. The Change
    System Settings dialog appears.

4. Use the Display drop-down list to select a new video driver setting.
Select Other display from the list if you have a replacement video
    driver on diskette.

If switching to a different video driver does not eliminate the problem,
your video card may be trying to access regions of memory that are excluded
from use by your memory manager. Check your video card documentation for
additional information on the required memory settings for your video card.

Note: Windows often requires the original Windows diskettes when making
changes to the system settings. Make sure you have your original
Windows diskettes available should they be required to load the new
      video driver.
