Subject: Long Distance Faxes Not Sent Properly from Act! 2.0

Situation:
==========
The leading 1 for long distance calls is not dialed when faxing from Act!
2.0.

Solution:
=========
Act! 2.0 sends the phone number via Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) to WinFax.
When a fax number is sent to WinFax via DDE, WinFax does not interpret or
modify the incoming data. Information on long distance phone and fax
numbers must be set up in Act! 2.0 to work properly with WinFax.

Setting up Act! 2.0 and WinFax PRO 4.0 for Long-Distance Dialing
----------------------------------------------------------------
1. Use a Windows text editor, such as Notepad or SYSEDIT, to open your
    ACTWIN2.INI file, which is found in your \WINDOWS directory. Ensure
    that you have a ten-digit number entered for your telephone and fax
    references in the ACTWIN2.INI file, for example:

         Me Phone=123 456 7890
         Me Fax=123 456 7890

2.  Launch Act! 2.0.

    - From the Edit menu, choose Preferences. The Preferences dialog
         appears. From the Modify list, choose Dialing Settings. The
         Preferences/Dialing Settings dialog appears.

    - In the Long Distance Prefix field, type 1.

    - In the International Prefix field, type 011 (if dialing from
         North America).

    -    Click OK.

    Note: If you have a dial prefix set in WinFax (i.e. 82W, *70) do not
            re-enter it in Act! 2.0, as it will be dialed twice.

3. From the Edit menu, choose Preferences. The Preferences dialog
    appears. From the Modify list, choose Miscellaneous. The
    Preferences/Miscellaneous dialog appears.

    - Enable the Use WinFax Icon and Auto WinFax options.

    - Click OK. A WinFax icon now appears in the toolbar.

4. Close Act! 2.0 by choosing Exit from the File menu. Close Windows by
    choosing Exit from the File menu in Program Manager. Restart Windows
    and Act! 2.0 for the changes to take effect.
