FLY'N THINGS(tm) GIF Viewer Version 1.10a 2/1/95
README.TXT - The file you are reading

CHANGES FROM PRIOR VERSIONS:

Version 1.10a is the same is version 1.10 -- the only changes are
in the Help file and Installation program.

HELP FILE: Prior versions used separate GIF files for screen views.
These, and the Help GIF viewer, are now part of the Help file.

INSTALL PROGRAM: Prior versions contained COMMDLG.DLL. The installer
now checks for correct Windows versions, eliminating the need to
install over the existing COMMDLD.DLL.

INSTALLATION:

Operating features of the GIF Viewer REQUIRE that it
be run under Windows 3.1 or later.

The GIF Viewer works best with Super VGA running at 800 x 600
resolution and 32k colors. However, it HAS been tested with Windows
running standard VGA at 640 x 480 resolution. This is a Visual Basic
program and requires to be installed in the WINDOWS/SYSTEM directory.

1. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A COPY OF VBRUN200.DLL ON YOUR SYTEM:

  a. If you have a disk copy, VBRUN200.EXE manually copy this
file to your WINDOWS or WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory. It is a
self-extracting ZIP file. Double click on the name from the
Windows File Manager. Or, from DOS, change to the directory
      (CD C:\WINDOWS or C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM - for the C: drive),
then type: VBRUN200.EXE and press the Enter key.

If this file isn't on your system, you will get an
error message "Cannot Find VBRUN200.DLL" when you
try to run the SETUP.EXE program. Install as above.

  b. If you have downloaded the GBKVWR.ZIP file from an on-line service,
download a copy of VBRUN200.DLL, too. Usually it's stored as
VBRUN200.ZIP. UNZIP the file and install per 1a.

2. From Disk:

The GIF Viewer uses a standard Windows installation program. The
program comes on a single high-density (1.44Mbyte) 3-1/2 inch disk.
Place the disk in your 3-/12-in. drive. From the Windows Program
Manager File Menu, select RUN... Type A:\SETUP and press the Enter
key. The automatic install program prompts you for any changes, like
hard drive or directory. When complete, the install program creates
a new File-Manager Group containing the GIF Viewer Icons. A sample
GIF-format file: SPITEXIV.GIF is included on the disk version.

If you are new to Windows, select the program's Help menu and then
select How To Use Help for basic operation of Windows programs.
For information on the GIF Viewer, select Contents from the Help
pull-down menu. Or, simply press function-key F1.

3. From A ZIPped Download:

Copy GIFVWR.ZIP into a temporary directory on your hard drive. UNZIP the
file with an UNZIPping program. Copy the UNZIPped programs to a 1.44 Mbyte
floppy disk. Then, follow the above "From Disk" installation instructions.

To install directly from your hard drive, UNZIP the program. Follow the
"From Disk" installation procedure, but run SETUP from the directory on
your hard drive. When the installation is complete, delete all of the
GIF Viewer installation files from the temporary hard-disk directory.
