FAULT - PRE-BETA Software

Notes and Licence

__________________________________________________

Do NOT use this version with existing FAULT v0.1.5 databases

INSTALLATION
____________

Install this application with the SETUP.EXE program.
You will be prompted for a directory location for the
FAULT system installation. Numerous support libraries
and files will be copied to your C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory.

NETWORK INSTALLATION
____________________

To use this system on a network, you can install the system
in a number of ways.

METHOD 1> To install a local drive version of the executable and
libraries, use the methode described in the standard installation
procedure. Then when you have an installed and working system, you
can creat a FAULT database on an attached network drive, which can
be seen by others in your support group. Please note: with this
method, you will have to install the FAULT system on each specific
users workstations.

METHOD 2> You can copy the entire FAULT installation archive to a network
drive, and then each user can install it from the network to her
workstation. This method produces an arrangement similar to the one above.

METHOD 3> By specifying a common network drive as the FAULT directory,
for example M:\FAULT\ you can have a single FAULT.EXE on the network, and
have the install system place the support files and libraries (DLL's
& VBXs) in the local workstation's C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory, This has
the advantage that there is only one FAULT.EXE which needs to be replaced
with a new version. NOTE: If you are using this method, please keep in
mind that the current version of FAULT maintains its database path in the
FAULT.INI file, which resides in the same directory as the FAULT.EXE
program. This means that the path to the database, for example
N:\MYCORP\FAULTDAT.MDB must be the same for all workstations.
