To install the demo, run SETUP.EXE in the TMDEMO directory from within Windows.
Keep the TMDEMO directory until you are done with the demo, since the sample 
database is kept there.

The sample database is limited to 2000 trademarks in International Class 30 
(staple foods).  This demo may be copied and redistributed in its original,
unaltered archive format.

Feature Overview
----------------
 
  The Trademark Quest software allows high performance, full text 
  indexed searching of trademark information.  A number of search 
  fields are supported, including word mark, company name, goods 
  or service description, etc.  Retrieved information can be printed,
  copied to the Windows clipboard, saved to disk, or exported to most
  spreadsheet and database applications.  The software features an 
  easy to use interface and the ability to apply complex selection 
  logic.  Extensive on-line documentation includes U.S. Patent and 
  Trademark office information brochures and trademark application 
  forms.


Installation
------------

  Insert the CD-ROM into your drive.  From within Windows, use 
  the program manager run command, or the Win95 start/run 
  command to run SETUP.EXE on your CD-ROM drive.  For example,
  if your CD-ROM is mounted as drive D, run D:\SETUP.EXE

  If you get a message about needing SHARE.EXE during the 
  installation, try running the software anyway.  If it 
  doesn't run, see instructions below about installing 
  SHARE.EXE

  NOTICE TO USER:
  THIS IS A CONTRACT.  BY INDICATING YOUR ACCEPTANCE, YOU 
  ACCEPT ALL THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THIS AGREEMENT.
  This Alpenglow End User License Agreement accompanies an Alpenglow 
  software product. This copy of the Software is licensed to you as 
  the end user.  If you do not agree with the terms and conditions of
  this Agreement, decline where instructed during installation, and 
  you will not be able to use the Software.  Alpenglow grants to you 
  a nonexclusive license to use the Software, provided that you agree 
  to the following: 

  1. Use of the Software. You may install the Software in a single 
  location on a hard disk or other storage device; You may install 
  the access software on more than one machine, provided that the
  software is going to be used on only one machine at a time by the 
  principle user by moving the CD-ROM.  For example, such as on a 
  home and work computer used by a single person.  You may install 
  the software on a single computer for non-networked use by multiple 
  people.  For example, a dedicated machine in a library setting.  You 
  may backup the software for recovery purposes.

  2. Copyright. The Software is owned by Alpenglow and its suppliers, 
  and its structure, organization and code are the valuable trade 
  secrets of Alpenglow and its suppliers.  The Software is also 
  protected by United States Copyright Law and International Treaty 
  provisions.  Source data supplied by the U.S. government is not 
  copyrighted, but proprietary formatting and organization of the 
  data in this software is.  You may publicly redistribute and or
  reformat information obtained from the software's clipboard, save,
  export or print functions.  The Adobe Acrobat viewer is copyright 
  by Adobe.  Please see its associated license for more details.

  3. Transfer. You may not rent, lease, or sublicense the Software. 
  You may, however, transfer all your rights to use the Software to 
  another person or entity, provided that you transfer this Agreement
  with the Software.

  4. Warranty. The software is being delivered to you by Alpenglow 
  with a limited warranty.  Alpenglow agrees to replace the product
  if it is non-functional due to manufacturing defects.  Alpenglow 
  and its suppliers cannot warranty the performance or results you 
  will obtain using the software.  In no event will Alpenglow or its
  suppliers be liable for any consequential, incidental or special
  damages.  The information on the CD-ROM is obtained from official 
  government sources and believed to be complete and correct, according
  to the time it was obtained.  However, the U.S. Patent and Trademark 
  office is the authoritative source for trademark information, and its
  information, decisions and judgments supersede any information 
  contained on this CD-ROM.  No warranty is provided for the Adobe 
  Acrobat viewer software.
 
  5. Governing Law and General Provisions. This Agreement will be 
  governed by the laws of the State of Massachusetts U.S.A.

  6. Notice to Government End Users. Use, reproduction or disclosure 
  is subject to the restrictions set forth in the applicable ADP 
  Schedule contract; DoD contract- Use, duplication or disclosure by
  the Government is subject to restrictions as set forth in 
  subparagraph (c) (1) (ii) of 252.227-7013; Civilian agency 
  contract- Use, reproduction, or disclosure is subject to 52.227-19
  (a) through (d) and restrictions set forth in the accompanying 
  end user agreement.  

  7. Acrobat Viewer.  The Adobe Acrobat viewer is being distributed by 
  Alpenglow according the terms of its license agreement, which should
  be consulted for license issues concerning the Acrobat software.

  Please indicate your acceptance or decline of the foregoing 
  Agreement by clicking on the appropriate box during installation.

Adobe(tm) Acrobat(tm) Viewer/Trademark Applications
---------------------------------------------------

  As a bonus item, Adobe's Acrobat 2.1 portable document 
  format viewer has been included on the CD-ROM.  This should 
  allow you to view and print several official U.S. Patent
  and Trademark Office documents, including the trademark
  application form and instructions.

  To install the acrobat viewer, select the install 
  Acrobat 2.1 Viewer program item.  After installation, 
  trademark documents can be found on the CD-ROM in the 
  ACROBAT directory.  The trademark application form is
  called TMAPPL.PDF.  

  Alpenglow provides no support or warrantees for the 
  Acrobat software, which is being distributed as is 
  according to the terms of the Acrobat 2.1 license.  
  See the Acrobat readme.txt file for more information.
  If you have problems with the viewer or the documents, 
  contact the U.S. Patent and Trademark office for 
  hardcopy versions.
