  REMINDER
  --------
SQL-Programmer 1.85 allows the management of SQL Server objects as big as 16
Meg each if using SYBASE System 10 (see the SYBASE System 10 specification).
For this, SYBASE customers needs to use the Open Client Version 10.0.2 P2 or
later. Make sure that the new W3DBLIB.DLL replaces all your copies of this
file to insure proper usage by Windows. This new W3DBLIB.DLL is quite
smaller then the older ones (around 30 to 40K).
Make sure that you correctly configured your SQL Server connection in the
SQL.INI file using the SYBASE tool SQLEDIT.EXE included with the new
  SYBASE Open Client for Windows.

The NEW SQL-Programmer 1.85 now also features PRINT PREVIEW (Yes!).
you can "Print Preview" any reports, from any places where you can
  print, you can "Print Preview".

The NEW SQL-Programmer 1.85 now also supports all the new Microsoft
SQL Server 6.0 features. All SQL Server 6.0 replications objects and
settings are supported by the Script Generator and additional reports
are available also for the new Microsoft SQL Server 6.0.

The NEW SQL-Programmer 1.8 "Batch Objects" can be as big as 16 Meg on all
Microsoft and SYBASE SQL Server versions and platforms!

VIRTUAL EDITING! "Test While You Edit Environment!"
(Take note of this still unique SQL-Programmer feature)
  -------------------------------------------------------
When you are editing a programmable object (i.e., Stored Procedure, View...,)
from within SQL-Programmer Main Workplace, all actions apply to WHAT YOU SEE!
not the version on the SQL Server. This means, you can do changes to a
transaction/procedure, test it, get dependencies, referenced objects,
execution statistics... ... and never have to save, or save over your
programmable objects. This lets you also assess the impact of your changes
before you save, if ever you still want to...
  See the manual for details.

  Windows/NT
  ----------
SQL-Programmer is also certified on NT 3.5 Workstation and NT 3.5 Server.

  SQL-PROGRAMMER INSTALLATION
  ---------------------------
Run INSTALL.EXE on the installation diskette from within Windows.
Everything is installed in the directory selected. No changes are made to
any existing Windows configurations. The INI file for SQL-Programmer is
called SQLPROG.INI and it is automatically created in your Windows
directory when SQL-Programmer first starts up.

We suggest that you delete the SQLPROG.INI file previously created by earlier
  versions of SQL-Programmer.

From the login window, SQL-Programmer offers you a list of the SQL Servers
you have connected to in the past.

  **PLEASE NOTE**
  ---------------
When creating a programmable object, if over approximately 475 characters of
comments are before the "AS" then not all the text is put into SQL Server
SYSCOMMENTS catalog table. This is a problem with SQL Server on most
platforms, including OS/2. This problem has been confirmed by Microsoft.
The solution is to put your comments after the "AS".
THIS IS A BUG WITH SQL SERVER, NOT SQL-PROGRAMMER

If you are using 8.5"x11" paper, we suggest you set your printer to landscape
via the printer setup dialog. All reports will fit on 8.5"x11" paper when
set to landscape depending on the font size selected.

If you experience General Protection Failure while using SQL-Programmer,
ensure that you are using the latest Windows Net-Library driver/interface
file from SYBASE if you are using a SYBASE SQL Server, or from Microsoft
if you are using a Microsoft SQL Server.

  ** INSTALLING SQL-PROGRAMMER MANUALLY**
  ---------------------------------------
Here are the steps to manually install SQL-Programmer from the DOS prompt if
you do not want to use the Windows installer (A:\INSTALL.EXE)
1- From a DOS box in NT, manually create the directory where SQL-Programmer
      should be installed.
        i.e.: MD C:\SQL
              MD C:\SQL\SQLPROG

2- Put diskette "1" in drive A: Copy all the files to the SQL-Programmer
      directory.
        i.e.: COPY A:*.* C:\SQL\SQLPROG

3- Do the same with Diskette "2"
        i.e.: COPY A:*.* C:\SQL\SQLPROG

4- Do the same with Diskette "3"
        i.e.: COPY A:*.* C:\SQL\SQLPROG

5- Remove diskette "3". We no longer need the diskettes.

6- Change directory for the SQL-Programmer directory.
        i.e.: CD C:\SQL\SQLPROG

7- Execute the EXTRACT by typing exactly this:
                EXTRACT /U: *.$*
(There is a space after "EXTRACT" and also a space AFTER the "/U:")

8- Execute the EXTRACT again by typing exactly this:
                EXTRACT /U: *.@00
(There is a space after "EXTRACT" and also a space AFTER the "/U:")

9- You can now manually add a group and an ITEM for SQL-Programmer from the
Program Manager. SQL-Programmer can be started by executing the
      SQLPROG.EXE file.

You simply need the [SQLSERVER] section of your WIN.INI to be completed.
If you are using the newer SYBASE W3DBLIB.DLL 10.0.2P2 or above, the SQL.INI
instead is used by DB-Library 10.0
