The DME 1.93 Demo (public version) is free for personal use
subject to the terms outlined in the license agreement 
accompanying it. (Refer to document: LICENSE.TXT)

The DRASTIC MPEG ENCODER is a low cost, high quality software solution
for a variety of multi-media applications.  DME uses MPEG compression
technology to encode streams of over 25 major file formats including
.TGA, .AVI. PCX, .BMP, and .JPG.  DME also supports audio in .AVI files,
.WAV files at standard MPC-2 frequency and resolution (8, or 16 bit, 
44.1 Khz.)DME provides an intuitive Windows graphical interface with 
easy list preview, editing and encoding options.  

THE DME DEMO VERSION ALLOWS FOR LIMITED ENCODING ONLY.  THERE IS A LIMIT 
OF 30 PICTURES FOR NORMALLY ENCODED VIDEO AND 1 SECOND FOR ENCODED AUDIO.  
ONLY THE FIRST 1 SECOND OF AVI SOURCE STREAMS WILL BE ENCODED TO 
AN MPEG STREAM.

Available soon! SPOUT, Drastic Technologies' MPEG software playback program.  
SPOUT plays back MPEG files through an easy-to-use interface.  SPOUT also 
offers playback configuration options.

Installing The DME Demo:
===================================================

	To install the DME Demo, simply unzip this file to
a directory or 3 1/2" floppy disk and run the setup
program under Windows.  This will create a program 
group and icons for the DME Demo and its help file.

Under Windows NT:

	After installing DME Demo, Press Alt+Enter while 
the DME Icon is highlighted to edit the properties for it, 
and check the box for running the program in its own
memory space.

Removing the DME Demo:
===================================================

	To remove the DME Demo, delete the files listed
above (and directories, where appropriate).

	The file DME.INI is used by DME.EXE to maintain custom
settings.  If you order the commercial release of DME, the
same DME.INI file (and same custom settings) can be used.
